La Negra

La Negra is a tropical den on on the pacific coast of Mexico, designed for relaxed people who want to have a tasty casual meal and a good time in a very eclectic atmosphere. Founded in the oldest house of the neighborhood, under an old tree, La Negra is frequently visited by families, retired people, couples, kids, tourist and local crowd; everyone part of this story since 2015.

About Us

We arrived to Bucerias in 2013, in love and full of hope, with the dream of living by the beach. We embarked on this adventure with a place called “Proud Beach Project” where we learned from scratch everything that service involved; cooking, bar tending, and also the less fun part, to deal with bureaucratic procedures… It was a great experience, however, things didn’t flow in our favor and we had to close after just over a year.

With the intention of continuing with our “Beach Club” we looked for beachfront locations for a couple of months, with no success. So we had to contemplate another option with the aim of finding a house where we could live, and at the same time, to put a small craft beer restaurant in our garage (while we found our dreams location).

Scouting the entire town on this mission, one hot afternoon in the spring of 2015, we were attracted by a beautiful shade of a tree and its street covered in leaves, so we approached closer to observe it. This tree belonged to a lovely little house, with a garage covered with an old palapa, and hidden in a corner of the blacksmith’s window, a small handmade sign with almost illegible ink was waiting for us: “For Rent” and a contact telephone number… Never we imagined what life had prepared for us!

We restore the house with the basics and moved into what would be our home for the next few months. We named it “La Negra” in honor to our Great Dane, the beach club pet who also lived here with us, along with our eldest daughter and the gray cat “Mara” (who until few years ago, was still asking for sashimi at the tables). This is how it all began, tight but with great faith in moving forward while Serena cooked and Hector was preparing the drinks.

We fell completely in love with our new life project and were soon inspired to add another member to the family. In this new period we received so much love from our visitors, always recommending us, that little by little, we were able to build a more efficient and welcoming place for them.

All learning have always come hand in hand with the team of incredible people who have been part of this family. We are infinitely grateful to the souls who have supported us during this journey for 10 years.

At La Negra, each meal is prepared taking the maximum care of the freshness, as well as the quality of the ingredientes, most of them from local businesses & producers. We make each process as homemade as possible; with the purpose of providing you with food that truly nourish your body and soul.

We are a family based in respect and harmony. With the idea of promoting a friendly and safe environment (for both our visitors, and those of us who work here), we establish some guidelines of HEALTHY COEXISTENCE:

  • We prioritize being a SAFE SPACE FOR WOMEN. Our rooftop is designed for groups of women, or women with their adult companions (men/women, 18+).
  • We have ZERO TOLERANCE for sexual harassment, verbal abuse, or any disrespectful behavior.
  • We do not promote alcohol abuse.
  • We are a smoke-free and vape-free space.

Music brought us here and put us together as a family; that’s how important music is at La Negra. We choose carefully special world music sounds that our visitors can enjoy and remember. There will always be someone in charge of the music, to play some nice tunes that feed the soul and from time to time, motivate a good dance. ABOUT RESERVATIONS

¡Cena rico y sé feliz en La Negra!

•  Las reservaciones en el primer seating de las 5:00, 5:30, 6:00 y 6:30pm podrán disfrutar su mesa por 2 horas (Si prefieres NO tener tiempo límite, reserva a partir de las 8:00pm).

• Nuestra terraza en ROOFTOP es un espacio solo para adultos 18+, SEGURO PARA MUJERES. Por lo menos una mujer debe estar incluida en tu grupo para solicitar mesa aquí. TODOS SON BIENVENIDOS en el resto de las áreas del restaurante.

• We give you a 10-minute grace period for your reservation; if you think you're running late, please call us to avoid assigning your table to someone else [329-298-0420 / 329-275-3070]

Please let us know if anyone in your group has difficulty using stairs (For safety reasons, people with mobility difficulties, walkers or crutches will be assigned a table on the ground floor).

Our bar uses 100% natural fresh squeezed juices, home-made syrups, and artisanal distillates for our cocktails, which have been evolving trying to adapt to the current techniques, but always respecting the ancestral knowledge.

We focus on offering beverages that keep you hydrated and facilitate digestion; such as kombucha, ginger beer, infusions and of course craft beer; avoiding soft drinks and products with chemicals & preservatives as much as possible. We have also developed a non-alcoholic cocktail menu for the whole family to enjoy.

The house’s recommendation are Mexican wines and spirits, you will find mezcal, raicilla, gin, vodka and even whiskey from national producers, rich in aromas, textures and flavors. And to accompany your dessert, you can order a coffee, roasted in Bucerias and freshly grounded for your espresso, cortado, cappuccino or latte.
